Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 - Item Attributes.

Hi All,

As we are discussing New Features in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017. Today we will discuss Item Attributes.

Till NAV 2016, There was a limitation in terms of specifying Item Features / Attributes in Dynamics NAV. With NAV 2017, we can have n Number of attributes can be defined for an item.


Attributes list is Generic and we can append attributes as per our requirement. 

Let's Start By Creating a New Attribute -

1. Navigate to Departments - Sales & Marketing - Inventory & Pricing - Item Attributes.

2. Create a New Attribute as per your requirement. The Attribute can only be of Type - Options, Text, Integer and Decimal.

3. You can assign Attribute Values for Attribute Type - Option.

4. You can Block an Attribute if you want.

5. You can add the translation to the Item attribute & Item attribute Values to support Multiple Languages.


How Item Attributes Help Customers and Partners - 

1. Customers can manage multiple details of items using Item Attributes.
2. Customers can filter data based on attributes in Item List or while selecting Item on Sales / Purchase Lines.
3. Partners can ship most commonly used attributes during deployment.

How To Assign Attributes to an Item - 
1. Navigate to Item List / Card.
2. From Action Ribbon select Attributes.
3. Specify the attribute and Value for the Attribute.
4. You can also see Item Attribute Values in the factbox in Item Card / List.


How To Filter Using Attributes Values -

1. You can filter Item List using Attributes, by selection Filter By Attributes from Item Ribbon.


What is There Technically In Terms of Item Attributes? - 

1. There is no Posting flow in terms of Item Attributes. You can only use Item Attributes in Items and use them for Filtering during document creations.
